As I was walking through the public library last week I had a brain ripple which turned into a wave at the shallow end. If I had an e-ink tablet the batteries would last a long time reducing the weight I would have to carry.
I searched the internet when I arrived home and the closest thing to a perfect tablet I found was the Earl

Since at $299 it is a bit pricey,, I thought I wonder it someone has rooted an ebook reader.
Of course Loads can be rooted, One of the cheapest around would be Barnes and Nobles Simple touch. It has Wifi connectivity and Micro Usb but its light and teamed with a wifi hub , (and if rooted) can be used to browse net ecetera. It has recently been discontinued but should sell for about $60 on ebay.
The replacement is the Nook Glowlight.((not to be confused with the Nook Simple touch with Glowlight.))

This led me to do something I swore I never would do and I read my first E-book ( Hewlett Packard you went Green a few years ago, I did not.)
Of course the US backpacker magazine compared tablets in the current issue and had a different view.
